Customer Reviews
We had a waterline losing water pressure underground but we couldn't see it. I called Roto-Rooter, 909-397-0567, & spoke to a woman who had me hold on the line while ... checking with a supervisor to make sure you had the below ground sensitive equipment available to find the leak. She scheduled a person to be at my home around 6PM, that same day. I arrived home approx. 5:40PM & within 5 minutes the Roto-Rooter man, MICHAEL, arrived. After learning how our 'mountain' water system operated he checked all of our pipes, inside & outside, & said he could find no leaking pipes. Fortunately, the night prior, my husband & I spotted where the leak might be. Sure enough that is what "Michael" figured as well. At that point I let Michael know that we appreciated him coming out to check our pipes, but that we would find & repair the pipe. I wanted to let you know how great Michael was at understanding the situation, & how thorough of a job he did. Please make sure to let him know that. Sincerely, Linda Kranz
Joe Dorado was very professional. He was very knowledgeable and took care of my problem.

Frequently Asked Questions in San Bernardino
Why do water heaters need more maintenance in San Bernardino?
San Bernardino's water carries dissolved minerals at 18.5 grains per gallon that solidify when heated. These minerals coat heating elements, tank walls, and internal components with scale that reduces efficiency and shortens operating life. Regular maintenance - including flushing and anode rod inspection - helps San Bernardino homeowners get the most years possible from their water heaters.
How often should I flush my water heater in San Bernardino?
Tank water heaters in San Bernardino should be flushed every six months due to the high mineral content. Regular flushing removes sediment that reduces heating efficiency and prevents the popping or rumbling sounds that indicate heavy mineral buildup.
How do I know if my water heater needs repair or replacement?
If the unit is less than 8 years old and experiencing minor issues like inconsistent temperature or unusual noises, repair is usually the cost-effective choice. If the tank is leaking, the unit is over 10 years old, or frequent repairs are adding up, replacement makes more financial sense. Call Roto-Rooter at 909-521-3001 for a professional evaluation.
Can San Bernardino's water damage a tankless water heater?
Yes. Mineral scale accumulates inside tankless heat exchangers, restricting water flow and reducing output over time. Professional descaling every 6 to 12 months is recommended in San Bernardino's water conditions.
What causes my water heater to make popping or rumbling sounds?
Those sounds come from steam bubbles trapped beneath mineral sediment at the bottom of the tank. When the heating element or burner heats the sediment layer, trapped water underneath turns to steam and pops through the deposits. A professional tank flush resolves the noise and restores heating efficiency.
What size water heater do I need for my San Bernardino home?
A household of one to two people typically needs a 30 to 40 gallon tank. Families of three to four need 40 to 50 gallons. Larger households should consider 50 to 80 gallon tanks or a tankless system. Your Roto-Rooter technician will evaluate your household usage and recommend the right capacity.
Does Roto-Rooter offer free estimates on water heater repair in San Bernardino?
Roto-Rooter provides free estimates for water heater repair and replacement in San Bernardino. Our technicians inspect the unit, diagnose the specific failure point, and explain all options and costs before any work begins.
How quickly should water damage be addressed in San Bernardino's climate?
Water damage should be addressed within hours regardless of climate. While San Bernardino's dry conditions slow mold growth compared to humid regions, standing water still damages flooring, drywall, and wood framing rapidly. Mineral deposits from hard water compound material damage when left untreated. Call Roto-Rooter at 909-521-3001 for prompt emergency response.
Does Roto-Rooter respond to flash flood and debris flow damage?
Yes. Roto-Rooter provides extraction, structural drying, and sanitization for San Bernardino properties affected by flash flooding and debris flows. Our teams handle the full scope of damage, including mud and sediment removal, contaminated material disposal, and antimicrobial treatment.
How can I tell if I have hidden water damage from a slab leak?
Signs of a slab leak include warm spots on the floor, the sound of running water when all fixtures are off, unexplained increases in your water bill, and damp or buckled flooring. Roto-Rooter technicians use electronic leak detection equipment and infrared cameras to pinpoint water beneath concrete slabs.
Will my homeowners insurance cover water damage restoration?
Most homeowners policies cover sudden and accidental water damage, such as burst or leaking pipes and appliance failures. Flood damage from surface water or debris flows typically requires a separate policy. Roto-Rooter provides documentation to support your insurance claim.
What is the difference between water mitigation and restoration?
Mitigation is the immediate emergency response - extracting water, deploying drying equipment, and preventing further damage. Restoration covers the complete recovery, including removing damaged materials and treating for mold. Roto-Rooter handles both phases as a single coordinated process.
Can hard water make water damage worse?
San Bernardino's hard municipal water leaves mineral deposits on materials as water evaporates, creating staining and accelerating deterioration of drywall, wood, and fixtures. Professional restoration includes thorough cleaning to remove mineral residue during the drying process.
Does Roto-Rooter offer free estimates for water damage restoration?
Yes. Roto-Rooter provides free estimates for water damage restoration in San Bernardino. Our technicians assess the scope of damage and explain costs before work begins.
