I am more than satisfied with the service I received from Kris and Jason. Thank you
Suzanne J.I had a floor drain in my laundry room that keep overflowing when I ran water in my kitchen sink. The service tech came and explain that my pipes had a ... grease buildup in it. He explain that he would run a snake in the drain and if he could not unclog it, it would be no charge. He ran the snake for about 15 minute and the drain was clean out. My wife was very happy that is was no longer overflowing on the floor. The service tech was very friendly and professional. Yes I would use them again.
I'm writing this letter regarding the work that had to been done regarding my sewer line. When this job first started I thought we had a slow drain that was ... causing the problem that when my washer drained my toilet bubble/guggled. Simply problem right....OH no, nothing is simple. Long story made short the sewer line had to be replaced.....problem....big tree sits right where the sewer line runs. Solution, re-route the sewer line around the tree. Everyone who worked on this project from the first serviceman that snaked the drain . Dusty doing the water blasting and Johathan Briere, field supervisor and the crew from G.E.S. Brandon and David, were professional, knowledgeable and courteous. The guys had to dig the yard up twice but that's ok I was impressed with how well the final grade looked. I just hope no one took offense to me supervising from my front porch. I explained to the guys that I use to do construction work and and find all this fascinating. I would highly recommended Roto Rooter to family and friends who need this type of work done and hopefully they would get the same crew to do the job, Happy satisfied customer...but my wallet is lighter....guess my hip won't hurt any more (LOL)
Indianapolis water is sourced and treated by Citizens Energy Group, drawing primarily from surface water sources. The treated water carries moderate mineral content. Over time, those minerals accumulate inside water heater tanks, reducing efficiency and shortening equipment lifespan. In older neighborhoods like Meridian-Kessler or Irvington, many homes still have water heaters that are well past their expected service life.
Watch for these warning signs:
- Inconsistent or insufficient hot water
- Rusty or discolored water at the tap
- Popping, rumbling, or banging sounds from the tank
- Visible corrosion or moisture around the unit
- Rising energy bills without a clear explanation
Roto-Rooter services all major water heater types, including traditional tank units, tankless systems, and heat pump models. Our plumbers will assess your current unit honestly. If a repair will reliably extend its life, we'll recommend that. If replacement is the smarter investment, we'll tell you clearly and walk you through your options.
Schedule service online or call 317-462-6811 to request a water heater inspection.
Drain Cleaning Services for Indianapolis Homes and Businesses
Slow or blocked drains are one of the most common plumbing complaints in Indianapolis. They're also one of the most mishandled. Many residents reach for store-bought chemical drain cleaners, which rarely solve the underlying problem and can damage pipes over time (especially the older cast iron and galvanized steel lines found throughout established Indianapolis neighborhoods).
Watch for these warning signs:
- Slow drainage in sinks, tubs, or showers
- Gurgling sounds after water drains
- Recurring clogs in the same fixture
- Unpleasant odors coming from drains
- Water backing up in multiple fixtures at once
Indianapolis's clay-heavy soil creates favorable conditions for tree root intrusion. Roots follow moisture and can infiltrate even small cracks in underground drain lines, growing into blockages that no chemical treatment will clear. Roto-Rooter technicians use professional-grade hydro-jetting equipment and motorized drain augers to remove blockages completely (not just punch through them).
Store-bought solutions mask symptoms. Professional drain cleaning addresses the source. Call 317-462-6811 to schedule a drain cleaning service or get a free onsite estimate.
Sewer Line Services in Indianapolis
Sewer problems are among the most serious plumbing issues a property owner can face. Left unaddressed, a failing sewer line creates health hazards, structural damage, and expensive cleanup. Indianapolis properties are particularly vulnerable due to the city's aging sewer infrastructure and the ground movement caused by expansive clay soil.
Watch for these warning signs:
- Sewage odors inside or around the property
- Multiple drains backing up simultaneously
- Lush or unusually green patches of grass over the sewer line
- Gurgling toilets or slow-flushing fixtures throughout the home
- Wet spots or sinkholes in the yard
Roto-Rooter uses video camera sewer inspection to diagnose problems accurately before any work begins. A camera is fed directly into the sewer line, giving our technicians a clear view of blockages, root intrusion, pipe deterioration, or joint separation. This eliminates guesswork and prevents unnecessary excavation.
Where conditions allow, we offer trenchless pipe repair (a minimally invasive method that rehabilitates damaged sewer lines without tearing up your yard or driveway). It's faster, cleaner, and often more cost-effective than traditional excavation.
Schedule service online or call 317-462-6811 to request a sewer inspection.
Water Softener and Filtration Services in Indianapolis
Indianapolis's water supply, managed by Citizens Energy Group, is treated surface water with moderate hardness levels. Over time, dissolved minerals (primarily calcium and magnesium) leave scale deposits inside pipes, water heaters, and appliances. This buildup reduces efficiency, shortens equipment lifespan, and affects water quality throughout the home. A properly installed water softener or filtration system addresses these issues at the source.
Roto-Rooter installs and services a full range of water softening systems, including:
- Salt-based water softeners
- Salt-free water softeners
- Dual-tank water softeners
- Magnetic water softeners
- Reverse osmosis water softeners
- Shower head water softeners
Water filtration goes beyond softening. Filtration systems remove contaminants that affect taste, odor, and safety. Roto-Rooter works with multiple filtration technologies to match the right system to your household's needs:
- Activated carbon filtration
- Ion exchange filtration
- Reverse osmosis filtration
- Mechanical filtration
- Ultraviolet filtration
Not sure which system is right for your home? Our technicians will assess your water quality and recommend the most effective solution. Call 317-462-6811 to schedule a consultation or request a free on-site estimate.

Frequently Asked Questions in Indianapolis
How fast can a plumber in Indianapolis respond to an emergency?
Roto-Rooter operates 24/7 across Indianapolis and Marion County. In most cases, a technician can be on-site within hours of your call. Contact ${marketPhone} for an estimated arrival time.
Does Roto-Rooter charge extra for nights, weekends, or holidays in Indianapolis?
No. Roto-Rooter does not charge extra for plumbing or drain service outside regular business hours. The rate you're quoted applies regardless of when you call.
What plumbing problems are most common in older Indianapolis homes?
Homes in neighborhoods like Irvington, Fountain Square, and Meridian-Kessler frequently have aging galvanized steel, cast iron, or clay pipes. These materials corrode, narrow, and crack over time. Sewer line deterioration and root intrusion are also widespread in these areas.
Can Indianapolis winters cause pipes to burst?
Yes. Cold snaps can freeze exposed or poorly insulated supply lines, building pressure until they burst. Signs of a freeze include no water flow from fixtures, frost on visible pipes, or unexplained water stains on walls. Call ${marketPhone} immediately if you suspect frozen pipes.
Why does my sewer back up during heavy rain in Indianapolis?
Indianapolis operates a combined sewer and stormwater system. During heavy rainfall, excess volume can overwhelm the system and cause backups in connected properties. A sewer inspection will determine whether the issue is system-wide or isolated to your line.
How do I know if my drain clog needs professional attention?
Recurring clogs, gurgling sounds, slow drainage in multiple fixtures, or sewage odors are all signs that store-bought solutions won't resolve the problem. Root intrusion and buildup inside the pipe require professional hydro-jetting or mechanical augering.
How long does a water heater last in Indianapolis?
Conventional tank water heaters typically last 8–12 years. Indianapolis's mineral-bearing water accelerates sediment buildup and can shorten that lifespan. Units showing rust, inconsistent heat, or unusual sounds should be inspected promptly.
Are Roto-Rooter plumbers licensed and insured in Indiana?
Yes. Every Roto-Rooter plumber operating in Indianapolis holds a valid Indiana state license and is fully insured. Indiana requires plumbers to meet state licensing standards before performing any plumbing work.
Does Roto-Rooter offer free estimates in Indianapolis?
Yes. Roto-Rooter provides free onsite estimates with upfront pricing before any work begins. Call ${marketPhone} to schedule an assessment.
How can Indianapolis homeowners prevent plumbing problems year-round?
Flush your water heater annually to clear sediment. Inspect under sinks and around appliances for slow leaks. Insulate exposed pipes before winter. Avoid putting fats, grease, or fibrous materials down drains. Schedule a professional inspection every two years, especially in homes built before 1970.
Roto-Rooter has been serving Indianapolis homeowners and businesses for decades. That history reflects a consistent standard of work and a reputation built on reliability.
